Evolution Of The Digital Camera
Remember the good old days, when purchasing a digital camera meant choosing between two or three models? The year 1995 has been, and there were literally only three digital cameras, that was introduced at the level of the consumer market, Apple QuickTake 100, the Kodak DC40 and the Casio QV-11. Then it was easy to get information about each camera and decide what works for you. Well, those days are not really gone. Well, if you want a new digital camera you need to do way through hundreds of different models and countless decisions as you would like to have as many megapixels your camera, what type of media you want your camera to save images, and what levels of digital and optical zoom you need. . . is not an easy task, especially if, like me, are you sure of what is a megapixel.
Recently I decided that my old film camera required an update and took the momentous decision to buy my first digital camera. Although I always tell people who are afraid of new technologies, friends and family I have had for years it was time to go digital. According to them the advantages of a digital camera, fear has prevailed in the high-tech gadgets. They told me that I could save a fortune on film and development costs, I could see my pictures at once, edit them on my computer, and print only what I wanted. So I decided it was time to jump on the train of technology and for me a small, simple digital camera.
Easier said than done.
Several disappointing trips to electronics stores in my area I was confused and camera-less. I’ve never been intimidated by salespeople, but the electronics stores have been absolutely overwhelming. I had no idea there were so many digital cameras on the market and found it difficult to understand even what you said the seller, if planted their products! Megapixel, CF, CCD, dpi, MMC. . . Who knows what these terms mean? Finally, I decided that my happiness in the Internet, where at least I was able to prove the conduct of research on my own terms, without hovering seller, in the comfort of their home.
I tried the major shopping sites online in the first place, but found most of them are still overwhelming and confusing than the shops. I use the internet for years, but I struggled to find the way for most of these sites. Not only that, but there were more digital cameras to choose between more in stores! I never thought possible. I needed a guide. . . objective evidence in language I could understand.
Finally, I came across a new website called www. tech selector. com. The site has promised to help me, the right product, each time in four easy steps. After my recent experience I had my doubts, but decided to give it a shot. I was assigned to the first category of product that I was looking for – digital cameras – and then choose a shorter choice questionnaire to fill out. I expected that the questionnaire to be boring, full of conditions that would not have understood, but it was not. It ‘been easy, and all the technical terms were explained to me in everyday language. After filling out the questionnaire, the site generates my report produced for personal use the best products for me, so my answers to the questionnaire. The report was easy to understand – I could see the product pictures, detailed specifications sheet, and compare the various products. After a few minutes to read through my report product that I made a decision and with the click of a button, I bought my first digital camera.
Sure, it’s 1995 and there is not much more than three digital cameras to choose from, but the cameras of today, amazing properties, we have not even imagined then.
