How To Choose a DSLR Camera?
For 35mm SLR owners witching to digital, the choice of brand is relatively easy. If you already have an investment in lenses and accessories from, say,Canon or Nikon, it’s tempting to stick with that brand to save the cost of having to buy replacements. In fact, lenses designed for 33mm won’t always produce the best results on digital SLRs, so you may want to upgrade at some point; but at least you can defer the cost of doing so, and you may find you don’t need to. On the other hand, you may want to take the opportunity to start again from scratch and take full advantage of all the new technology. In which case, you’ll be in the same boat as digital-compact upgrades and others completely new to SLRs. So how do you choose?
The very first decision should be to set a budget. Is $500 your limit, or could you go to $800, or perhaps even $1000? This will narrow the field considerably. Decide whether you’ll need the extra resolution offered by having more mega pixels. If A4 will be your maximum likely print size then 6-8 MP may be sufficient. Many of the features found in more expensive mid-range DLSRs are aimed at the most discerning users who want precise control over the entire imaging process. If this sounds like you, then you should look to invest in one of these. Whatever you needs, do not buy a DSLR without discussion with a photo specialist. They’ll probably be better to answer any questions you may have about the cameras you’re handling.
